Zweeds Voorzitterschap dringt aan op actie in Kopenhagen (en)

As the second week opens in Copenhagen, the negotiations are intensifying. In order to make progress, the Danish Presidency is today raising some issues from senior official level to ministerial level.

“We welcome the Danish Presidency’s intensification of the negotiations. Time is short if we are to succeed. It is important that the key issues are now passed over to the politicians”, says Swedish Minister for the Environment Andreas Carlgren.

In the morning, the Danish proposal for which issues should be raised in the ongoing process will be presented. The negotiators are discussing this today in the large plenary hall. The proposal covers issues including long-term targets for emissions reductions and how the various parties shall contribute to reaching the targets. It is not clear how the proposals will be received.
