Under the headline ‘EU Snapshots of Your Life’, the Danish EU Presidency has organized a photo competition primarily aimed at young people taking photos of how the EU and Europe affects their daily lives. The 40 best photos will be on display at the Royal Library in Copenhagen from 7 June.

The Danish EU Presidency’s photo exhibition ‘EU Snapshots of Your Life’ opens 7 June at the Royal Library in Copenhagen with the 40 best photos from the competition.

The presidency received almost 3000 contributions from young people across Europe who uploaded photos via the mobile application and the Facebook page of the competition. Among the many beautiful and creative photos, a jury consisting of the Danish Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Wammen, the Presidency photographer Bjarke Ørsted, and Photo Editor in Chief at Daily Politiken, Thomas Borberg, selected the winners in the following four categories:

  • Most artistic and creative photo
  • Best connection between photo and comment
  • Funniest photo
  • Best rated photo

The Minister for European Affairs will open the exhibition on 7 June at 15 pm, where the four winners, who respectively come from Hungary, Denmark, Austria and Portugal, will be awarded their prize by the Minister.

Mads Steffensen, famous Danish TV and radio host, jump-started the competition

The competition was launched in January with high school debates in Aarhus and Copenhagen, where over 1,000 students - with the famous Danish TV and radio host Mads Steffensen as moderator - debated EU dilemmas based on their daily lives with themes such as education, travel, environment and food.

The exhibition takes place at the Kirkeby Bridge in the Royal Library in Copenhagen from 7-24 June and everyone is welcome to attend the award ceremony, which will be followed by a reception. As the number of seats is limited, registration is required. Send an e-mail to rinras@um.dk if you wish to participate.

The photo competition also culminates in a photo mosaic offered to schools, city halls, libraries and embassies.
