Conference for the International Year of Cooperatives 2012, Nicosia - Hoofdinhoud

On the occasion of 2012, declared by the UN as the International Year of Cooperatives the Cyprus National Committee for this event organizes the Cyprus Conference for the International Year of Cooperatives. The Conference, which is organized in cooperation with Cooperatives Europe, will take place at the International Conference Center in Nicosia on the 28th to the 29th of September 2012, during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU. Among the participants will be officials on behalf of the European Commission, Cyprus Republic and Cooperatives Europe, co-operative experts, distinguished academics and governmental policy makers from the member states of the EU.

The main objectives of the Conference are:

• 1. 

  Increase public awareness about co-operatives and their contributions to socio-economic development and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.
• 2. 

  Promote the formation and growth of co-operatives.
• 3. 

  Encourage governments to establish policies, laws and regulations conducive to the formation, growth and stability of co-operatives.
