Bespreking verbetering van omzetting en implementatie van EU-wetgeving (en)

On 19-20 September the conference on Transposition and Implementation of the European Union (EU) law organized by the European Law Department under the Ministry of Justice will takes place in Vilnius. This discussion is intended to wider examine topical legislative initiatives of the European Union (EU) Court of Justice and possible alternative solutions for increasing litigation efficiency.

During the conference the following issues will be examined: transposition and implementation of the EU law as well as the development of these processes, cooperation of the European Commission (EC) and the Member States seeking to ensure proper and timely transposition and implementation of the EU law, application of the procedure of the EU law violation, effect of the novelties on law enforcement process after the Lisbon Treat, transposition and implementation of the EU law in the candidate countries and the neighbouring Eastern countries.

“It is always possible to improve coordination of the decision-making process in the adoption of the European Union legal acts. This is necessary in order to achieve reasonable and flexible regulation at the European Union level, which later on will have to be transferred to national legal systems,” Justice Minister Juozas Bernatonis says.

This kind of conference is held for the fourth time and is aimed at discussing the problematic issues of transposition and implementation of the EU law. Representatives of the EC, the EU Court of Justice and all Member States will participate in the conference. Considering the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency i of the Council of the EU, representatives of the candidate and potential candidate countries to the EU and Eastern Partnership countries are invited to take part in the conference.

This year high officials from the European Commission, i.e. Mr. Patrick Hetsch, Deputy Director General of the Legal Service, EC, and Ms. Elizabeth Golberg, Director, Directorate Smart Regulation, EC, participate in the conference organized during the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
