Resultaten Litouws voorzitterschap voorgelegd aan de EP-commissies (en) - Hoofdinhoud

On December 17-18 in Brussels, six Lithuanian ministries will present the results of the Presidency in the committees of the European Parliament.

Minister of Finance Mr Šadžius, Minister of Energy Mr Neverovičius, Minister of Justice Mr Bernatonis, Minister of the Interior Mr Barakauskas, and Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Sinkevičius and the members of the committees will discuss the EU achievements in the areas of economics, monetary policy, freedoms of citizens, justice, internal affairs, transport and other areas. Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Kriščiūnas will speak on the issues of development cooperation and trade policy.

Ministers presented priorities of their supervised areas to the committees of the European Parliament at the beginning of the Lithuanian Presidency in July. This time the Lithuanian representatives will review the essential work performed during the period of the Presidency of the EU Council in cooperation with the legislative partner the European Parliament.

Within two days 8 presentations of the Lithuanian Ministers will be heard in 7 committees of the European Parliament.

Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Rolandas Kriščiūnas will also participate in the discussion of the meeting of the European Parliament Development committee (DEVE) concerning the challenges faced by new EU member states and their abilities to contribute to implementation of the agenda after 2015, especially by sharing experience of the transition period, and on behalf of the high representative of the EU for foreign affairs and security policy Catherine Ashton i will inform the committee about the session of the Foreign Affairs Council on development cooperation results.

On December 17 Minister of Energy Jaroslavas Neverovičius will participate at the Joint Committee Meeting on the EU Internal Energy Market for the 21st Century organised by the European Parliament Industry, Research and Energy committee (ITRE) and the Committee of Economics of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.
