Mr Han Moraal appointed National Member for the Netherlands

Eurojust is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Han Moraal as the National Member for the Netherlands at Eurojust. In accordance with Article 2(1) of the Eurojust Decision, the appointment was approved by the Secretary General of the Council of the European Union. Mr Moraal officially took up his duties at Eurojust on 1 June.

Mr Moraal’s first appointment was as a Public Prosecutor with the Public Prosecution Service in 1987 in Rotterdam, from where he moved in 1994 to the Zwolle Lelystad District Court. In 1996, Mr Moraal was appointed Chief Public Prosecutor to the Flevoland police region, and in 1998, was appointed Chief Public Prosecutor at Groningen District Court. In 2007, following four years as Chief Public Prosecutor at The Hague District Court, Mr Moraal was appointed Procurator General to the Board of Procurators-General. Mr Moraal is currently National Chief Advocate General.

Following his appointment, Mr Moraal said: ‘Eurojust is a well-known and highly respected establishment in The Hague. Having been based in this city for several years, I am very familiar with Eurojust’s work and was delighted to be appointed National Member for the Netherlands. I look forward to the challenges the future holds and to working with colleague prosecutors from across Europe.’
