During the 28 November meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, a workshop will be held on 'The implications of Brexit on the Irish border'. This workshop, organised by Policy Department for Citizens' Rights and Constitutional Affairs, will feature four experts presenting three research papers.
Dr. David PHINNEMORE, Professor of European Politics; Dean of Education (Queen's University Belfast); Visiting Professor (College of Europe, Bruges); and Dr. Katy HAYWARD Reader in Sociology (Queen's University Belfast); Senior Research Fellow (Senator George J. Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice) will present the paper on 'UK Withdrawal ('Brexit') and the Good Friday Agreement'.
Dr. Lars KARLSSON, President of KGH Border Services; Former Director of World Customs Organization; Deputy Director General of Swedish Customs will present the research paper on 'Smart Border 2.0 - Avoiding a hard border on the island of Ireland for Customs control and the free movement of persons'.
Dr. John TEMPLE LANG, Solicitor; Adjunct Professor in Trinity College Dublin; Senior Research Fellow in Oxford, will present the paper 'Brexit and Ireland - Legal, Political and Economic Considerations'
