‒ Adoption

• I. 

  INTRODUCTION

• 1. 

  The Commission submitted to the Council on 12 October 2018 the above-mentioned proposal for a Council Decision on the Union position as regards certain technical amendments to the

  Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF).

• 2. 

  The amendments to COTIF are to be adopted using a written procedure launched by the

General Secretariat of OTIF on 20 August 2018. The procedure closes on 30 November 2018.

• 3. 

  The Union has acceded to COTIF in 2011 by virtue of Council Decision 2013/103 i/EU of

  16 June 2011.

II. WORK AT THE PREPARATORY BODY

• 4. 

  In its meeting on 12 November 2018, the Working Party on Land Transport examined and endorsed the proposal presented by the Commission.

III. CONCLUSIONS

• 5. 

  The Permanent Representatives Committee is invited to endorse the draft Decision and to submit for adoption by the EYCS Council (Education, Youth, Culture and Sport) on

  26 November 2018, as presented in document 13299/18 + ADD 1, revised by the lawyerlinguists.

• 6. 

  Once adopted, the European Parliament will be informed about the Council Decision.
