Bilateral meeting between Minister Ștefan-Radu Oprea and the French State Secretary Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne - Hoofdinhoud
Ștefan-Radu Oprea, Minister for Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship had today a bilateral meeting with Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, State Secretary in the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France. The discussions focused on the negotiating mandates related to the agreements between EU and the US on conformity assessment and the liberalization of trade in industrial goods, but also on the economic relations between Romania and France.
The meeting took in the margins of the Foreign Affairs Council - Trade which was organized in Bucharest, on February 21 and 22, 2019.
At bilateral level, the two dignitaries stressed the importance of the economic dimension of the France - Romania Strategic Partnership, as well as of the multi-dimensional project„France - Romania Season” - under which more than 500 events are to be organized for further strenghtening the bilateral economic and cultural ties.
State Secretary Lemoyne praised Minister Oprea’s participation in the Economic Forum in Paris, in December 2018, along with a consistent business delegation of more than 20 Romanian companies, stating that the event had positive echoes within the French business community and at institutional level.
The Romanian Minister expressed his full openness and commitment for a close dialogue with the business environment - both Romanian and foreign - with the aim of adapting Romanian rules, regulations and programmes to the companies’ major needs, refferring also to the close contact and consultations with the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Romania.
France ranks 3rd among the export destinations for Romania and the bilateral trade exchanges constantly increase, so that in 2018 they reached approx. EUR 9 billion. From the investment point of view, France ranks 6th, with more than 9,300 registered companies and over EUR 2.3 billion in capital.
