The Informal Meeting of Energy Ministers

Met dank overgenomen van Roemeens voorzitterschap Europese Unie 1e helft 2019 (Roemeens voorzitterschap) i, gepubliceerd op maandag 1 april 2019.

The Romanian Ministry of Energy organizes the Informal Meeting of Energy Ministers on 2 April 2019, in Bucharest, in the context of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The event gathers the EU Energy ministers and will be chaired by Romanian Minister of Energy, Anton Anton. The meeting will be attended by European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, Miguel Arias Cañete i.

In the first session, the informal meeting will focus on the priorities of the EU future energy system, in the prospect of the post-2020 energy transition. A series of directions are expected in this regard, especially since a goal of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union is to adopt a set of ministerial conclusions on this topic at the Energy Council on 25 June 2019.

The first reunion on Energy between EU states and Eastern Partnership states will also take place on 2 April 2019, with the aim of strengthening regional co-operation.

Informal ministerial meetings are a common practice of every presidency of the Council of the EU; their purpose is to provide a framework for common reflections and an exchange of views on European and international topics.
