Romania promoted at the “Open Day” of the European institutions in Brussels - Hoofdinhoud
The Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU promoted Romania on the occasion of the “Open Day” of the European institutions in Brussels. The event took place on Saturday, May 4, between 10.00 and 18.00, local time. On this occasion, thousands of visitors of the Council of the European Union had the opportunity to find out more about our country, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU for the first time.
Romania’s Ambassador to the EU, Luminiţa Odobescu, said:”This event of maximum visibility at the level of the EU institutions is an excellent opportunity to familiarize those who walk through the doors of the Council with our country, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU. In this capacity, we are promoting a digital, interactive, creative Romania, elements that are among the priorities of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU. And the visitors enjoyed it very much. It is such a pleasure to witness how successful our stand is”.
Romania’s stand has been designed to be an interactive one, including throughdigital installations, such asButterfly Effectcreated by Modulab[http:#_ftn2][2], a multi-disciplinary platform that promotes research and development of new means of expression through technology. Also, visitors were invited to participate in contests about Romania or to explain in a few words “what does the EU mean to me?”, being awarded with promotional materials of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
On this occasion, three special exhibitions were opened in the Justus Lipsius and Europa buildings of the Council - an historical photography exhibitionabout the most beautiful symbol of the Centenary of GreatRomania: Queen Marie - “Queen Marie, the irresistible ambassador of Romanian history and traditional art”,developed by the History Brasov County Museum in partnership with the Forums Association and the National Bran Museum and funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Identity; the exhibition “Monasteries and Churches from Romania” of the Swiss artist Anton Kaindl, withworks belonging to the collection of Queen Marie from the Bran Castle, now part of the cultural patrimony of the National Museum from Bran, with the support of theMinistry of Culture and National Identity; and a sculpture exhibition with the works of Romanian artist Vladimir Kazan.

“Open Day” of the European institutions in Brussels is an annual event, traditionally held on the occasion of Europe Day. It aims to familiarize the public with the European institutions by engaging in activities specifically organized for this occasion - guided visits, public debates, interactive games, contests, distribution of promotional materials etc. Within the EU Council, each Member State is given a special promotion stand.
