The Ministry of Labour and Social Justice organizes in Bucharest, between 23-24 May 2019, the Mutual Information System on Social Protection (MISSOC) Meeting, in the context of Romania’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The event hosted at the Palace of Parliament is attended by technical experts in the field of social security from all member states of the European Union and representatives of the European Commission and of the Council of Europe.

The discussions will focus on updating and clarifying technical issues within MISSOC so as the European citizens receive full, accurate and coherent information about the EU social protection schemes.

We are confident that this meeting will be a good opportunity for open discussions and debates that will contribute to raising awareness of innovative solutions and new initiatives in approaching the challenges that social security systems are faceing in all member states, as well as for finding the best solutions for the progress of the European agenda in the field of social protection”, said the Minister of Labour and Social Justice, Marius Budăi.

MISSOC is a central source of information on the legislation, structure, organization and financing method of each social security scheme in the Member States of the European Union.

Each member state appoints one or two representatives from their relevant ministries (usually from the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Health), as national correspondents responsible for updating MISSOC documents (documents are updated twice a year, on 1 January and 1 July).

There are two annual meetings of the Mutual Information System on Social Protection, in spring and in autumn, and these meetings are organized in the member states holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union at that time.
