De werkgroep is verantwoordelijk voor kwesties inzake de ontwikkeling en uitvoering van het cohesiebeleid. Haar werkzaamheden vallen onder artikel 174 VWEU en moeten de economische, sociale en territoriale cohesie van de EU en de Europese territoriale samenwerking versterken.
