About this consultation

Feedback period

11 October 2019 - 6 December 2019 (midnight Brussels time)

Topic

Banking and financial services

Target audience

All citizens and organisations are welcome to contribute to this consultation. In particular, the Commission is looking for feedback from stakeholders who have experience of the regulatory regime for benchmarks in their capacity as benchmark administrator, benchmark contributor or benchmark user.

Why we are consulting

The objective of this consultation is to gather stakeholders’ feedback on the functioning of the EU i benchmarks regime, two years after its entry into application. The consultation focuses primarily on a number of topics the Benchmark Regulation itself puts forward for review, such as the regime for critical benchmarks and the effectiveness of the mechanism for authorisation and registration of EU benchmark administrators. At the same time, a couple of broader topics are explored, such as the categorisation of benchmarks and the rules for third country benchmarks.

On the basis of the responses received, the European Commission will prepare a report to the European Parliament and Council.
