Informal Meeting of Political Directors of EU Member States

Met dank overgenomen van Kroatisch voorzitterschap Europese Unie 1e helft 2020 (Kroatisch voorzitterschap) i, gepubliceerd op vrijdag 10 januari 2020.

With the framework of the Presidency of the Republic of Croatia, the Council of the European Union in Zagreb and Brussels held an informal meeting of political directors at EU member states' foreign ministries on 9-10 January 2020.

The meeting was hosted by Petar Mihatov, Political Director at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, and on behalf of the European External Action Service by Political Director Jean-Christophe Belliard.

During the two-day meeting, the situation in the Middle East was discussed with special emphasis on Iraq, Iran and Libya, topics of the extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council which took place on 10 January. Political directors also discussed these issues with US Undersecretary David Hale.
