De Progressieve Alliantie van Socialisten en Democraten (S&D) is de sociaaldemocratische fractie in het Europees Parlement i. De fractie is ontstaan als een alliantie tussen de Partij van de Europese Sociaal-Democraten i (PES) en de Italiaanse Democratische Partij.
De fractie van de Progressieve Alliantie van Socialisten en Democraten (S&D) heeft 141 leden afkomstig uit 26 lidstaten, en is daarmee de op een na grootste fractie in het Europees Parlement. Op het hoogtepunt in 1999 hadden de Sociaal Democraten 233 zetels in het Europees Parlement.
