Protect animals, ban live animal transport! - Hoofdinhoud

Worldwide, every year, millions of animals are forced to endure journeys of hundreds, or even thousands, of miles, only to be slaughtered on arrival or be fattened in often inhumane conditions.

🐏 In November almost 15.000 sheep got trapped on a sinking vessel in Romania and drowned.

⚠︁Our MEP Anja Hazekamp demanded an emergency debate in European Parliament and urged the European Commission to start infringement proceedings against Romania. There appeared to be sufficient political support within the European Parliament to tighten up the existing rules for animal transport. A drastic reduction in the maximum transport duration, better enforcement, and a ban on animal transport to countries outside the EU are necessary. The European Commission must now come up with a proposal.
