Statement on conclusion of 2018 administrative enquiry in respect of the EP office in Athens

An administrative enquiry commencing in the summer of 2018 was carried out in respect of the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Greece. The administrative enquiry concluded that no blame was attached to Mr Antonakopoulos, Ms Theofilopoulou or Mr Kountouros, the officials concerned, as regards any aspect of the activities of the Liaison Office. The officials concerned have been informed that the enquiry has been discontinued. In that respect, the competent authority of the European Parliament has formally expressed its regret to the officials concerned for the damage their reputation has suffered as a result of the process and commends the three officials for their very proper and dignified stance throughout this period.
