During the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Danish Embassy in Vienna presents a concert series, emphasising Danish music, European relations and cross-border collaborations.

The concerts revolve around Danish musician and composer Benjamin Koppel, widely acclaimed for his musical virtuosity as well as an extensive range of international artistic collaborations. His musical scope is very wide, and this will be reflected in the concert series, displaying three very different musical expressions.

This concert focuses on European Jazz performed by a quintet of Benjamin Koppel (DK): saxophones, Carsten Dahl (DK): piano, Georgi Kornazov (BU): trombone, Thommy Andersson (SE): double bass, and Daniel Humair (FR): drums.

The different nationalities and the enormous creativity of the musicians strongly affect the musical expression. The Nordic lyric tone meets the continental extrovert jazz tradition in a musical collaboration, taking European Jazz into completely new directions. Not least due to the drummer Daniel Humair, one of the absolute biggest Free Jazz stars in Europe.

The concert will take place at the acclaimed jazz club Porgy & Bess as part of the official program for the annual Vienna Jazzfestival “Jazz Fest Wien”.
