On Saturday 28 May 2016, the European institutions will be open to the general public. This fun day out for all the family is an opportunity to find out more about Europe in all its diversity!

"United in diversity", the motto of the European Union, is the theme of Open Day 2016. Europe is a melting pot of languages, cultures, religions, political opinions ... Europe has many faces and this multifaceted identity is reflected in its fundamental values and the institutions that govern it.

The European Parliament, the European Council, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the European Economic and Social Committee, the European Committee of the Regions and the European External Action Service will team up to welcome more than 30 000 visitors eager to learn more about how these institutions work and the issues that they champion in the interests of citizens.

Focusing on the cultural and territorial diversity of Europe’s regions and cities, the European Committee of the Regions will welcome visitors to the European Union’s assembly of local and regional representatives, where the interactive stands of 31 partner regions and cities from 13 EU Member States will await them, and there will be some fun surprises in store.
