On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 2019, FEMM will hold a Hearing devoted to analyse the state of play of violence against women (VAW) in the EU and to exchange best practices to combat it.

The event will start with an overview of the international legal instruments in fighting VAW. It will continue with a session taking a closer look at specific cases of the Member Statesʹ actions fighting VAW. The hearing will include the launch of EIGE's 'Guide to risk assessment and risk management of intimate partner violence against women for police'.

EP-Commissie Rechten van de vrouw en gendergelijkheid (FEMM)

Deze parlementaire commissie i houdt zich bezig met de bevordering van de rechten van vrouwen, gelijke kansen van mannen en vrouwen op de arbeidsmarkt en het tegengaan van discriminatie op grond van geslacht.

De commissie telt 37 leden. De grootste uitdagingen waar deze commissieleden zich voor inzetten zijn het bestrijden van financiële ongelijkheid, de verslechtering op het gebied van de rechten van de vrouw, de ondervertegenwoordiging van vrouwen in de besluitvorming, het geweld tegen vrouwen en de bescherming van de rechten van vrouwen op het gebied van seksuele en reproductieve gezondheid.
