Visit of international correspondents accredited to the European Union

International correspondents (62 in total) accredited to the EU i, participated in a multi-day working visit to Croatia. This is a traditional visit by Brussels correspondents at the start of the EU Presidency.

On the first day, an official conference for foreign correspondents was organized with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, who answered numerous questions during the 90-minute meeting.

On the second day, meetings were held with 12 Croatian ministers during which foreign journalists could gain an insight into the positions of the Croatian government bodies on current issues of all Council of Europe configurations.

On the same day, they participated in a joint press conference with European Council President Michel and Prime Minister Plenković, while in the evening international correspondents attended a formal concert at the Croatian National Theatre which officially marked the start of the presidency.

On the third day, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and the entire Government hosted a College of Commissioners headed by President Ursula von der Leyen and a joint press conference was held between the two presidents in Zagreb.

On the same day, Brussels correspondents participated with great interest the lectures of top Croatian scientists called "New Trends in Medicine" organized by the Croatian Agency for Small Business, Innovation and Investment (HAMAG-BICRO) at the Incubation Center for Biosciences and Commercialization of Technology " BIOCentar ". Lectures on the achievements of modern medicine, technology, robotics and other related branches of science were given by prof.dr.sc. Dragan Primorac, prof. Bojan Jerbić, Ph.D. Mislav Novokmet, MD Hrvoje Kaučić and MD Domagoj Kosmina.

On the fourth day of the working visit, President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović received international correspondents after which they visited Plitvice Lakes and Opatija.

On the last day of the trip, international correspondents visited Rijeka - the European Capital of Culture 2020 - where a presentation of the program was held. Rijeka is the first Croatian city to receive this prestigious title.
