Since the Lisbon Treaty, the European Council’s position in the institutional setting of the EU has arguably been on the rise. The Bratislava Declaration, the Rome Declaration and the Leaders’ Agenda all seem to have consolidated its position at the centre of EU policy-making and agenda-setting. This event will discuss to what extent an increased role of the European Council has reshaped the EU institutional balance and whether this necessarily implies a reduced role for other institutions.

Speakers: Richard CORBETT, MEP - Desmond DINAN, Professor at George Mason University - Sophia RUSSACK, Researcher on institutions, CEPS - Hugo BRADY, Speechwriter and adviser to Donald Tusk, President of the European Council - Astrid WORUM, Head of Council Oversight Unit, EPRS (moderator)

Location: Altiero Spinelli Building (ASP 06D 128)
