This event is co-organised by the European Committee of the Regions and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). It aims at commemorating 30 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall and reviewing the past and current state of democracy in East-Central Europe.
The one-day conference will explore the evolution and the current state of democracies in the region. The event will gather leading thinkers on democracy, policymakers and civil society in East-Central Europe, as well as representatives of the EU institutions. The conference will serve to reflect on International IDEA’s newly released 2019 global state of democracy report and indices.
