The aim of the hearing is to hear the views of stakeholders (business and consumers associations) and academia on the need to review the Product Liability Directive and on related challenges in the new digital age. It would allow participants to present their views on whether the overall liability regime is adequate to facilitate the uptake of the new technologies, and to address the matter from different perspectives.
It will also offer the opportunity to hear the Commission's conclusions of its evaluation work and results achieved in the Expert group on liability and new technologies together with a presentation of further plans in this regard.

Deze parlementaire commissie i houdt zich onder meer bezig met de wet- en regelgeving op het gebied van de (digitale) interne markt (waaronder het vrije verkeer van goederen en diensten), het douanebeleid en met de bescherming van de belangen van consumenten.
De Commissie interne markt en consumentenbescherming telt 45 leden die, in samenwerking met de lidstaten en de Europese Commissie i, zich bezighouden met de toepasbaarheid van regelgeving op het gebied van de gemeenschappelijke interne markt. Ook ziet zij toe op de tijdige toepassing van wet- en regelgeving.
