The European Committee of the Regions (CoR) has supported development of the blue economy as an instrument for the creation of jobs and growth on multiple occasions through opinions and in the resolutions concerning the Committee's priorities. Advanced maritime technologies are key economic driver for Europe's coastal regions, and the event will search to emphasize the latest developments in the field and encourage an exchange of best practices on decarbonisation at regional level. This is very important topic for maritime regions as they are facing increasing competitive pressure from third countries, as clean technologies could represent a significant advantage.
A recent opinion of the CoR on the subject of maritime industries with Mr Cleargeau as rapporteur outlines the challenges and posibilities for European maritime technologies aiming to support smart specialisation strategies of the regions as well as a new comprehensive agenda on the topic at European level.
An interactive discussion with stakeholders will be encouraged, as well as an extensive questions&answers session.
