The outcome of the EU summit on 14-15 March will be debated on Wednesday when EP's political group leaders will confront Council president Herman Van Rompuy i and Commission vice president Maroš Šefčovič i over the need to create jobs and boost growth. Apart from economic issues, they will also talk about the situation in Syria, while the latest developments in Cyprus are also likely to be discussed. The meeting will be open to all MEPs and be shown live on our website.
The political group leaders are also likely to focus on the upcoming negotiations between the EP and member states on the EU's budget for 2014-2020. MEPs voted 13 March to reject the budget proposal from the Council in its current form. EP president Martin Schulz i warned heads of state and government at the summit last week that they should be prepared for serious negotiations.
